Portraiture

A portrait is a moment in time.

It captures a person and the emotions of a moment, perhaps, many moments in that person’s life.

A portrait should ask questions, and answer some of them.

About

Nigel Reynolds Stripe is the Creative Director and Principal Photographer at Vivacity London. 'Stripe,’ as he is know to most, undertook his first paid commission in 1982. He describes himself as a ‘happy snapper’ but the meticulous craft with which his images are created would belie that. He draws on fine art and photographic history to create sumptuous fashion, advertising and portrait images. He's even been known to get the tripod out for some landscapes. Although based in London, he travels the world seeking out the best locations and best models for his unique vision of what constitutes a great fashion image.
His work has featured in publications such as Vogue, Marie Claire, Tatler and Q Magazine. He lists a wide variety of inspirations, ranging from Edward Steichen to Cecil Beaton to Helmut Newton and Nick Knight. “It’s all about style,” he says. “Fashion is temporary and style is permanent... edgy is good, and to my mind you can (and should) push the boundaries, just don’t forget to celebrate beauty!” His perception and visual insight and his unique style enable him to conceptualise and create stunning images. Whilst each image is different, his style is unmistakeable!
